If the Tesco plan is allowed to go ahead - 
bulletRisk to town centre shops – we are among the few towns that still contain independent food shops in the town centre and not a centre full of ‘multiple’ clothes shops.
bulletExpansion of Co-op and inclusion of a supermarket in Buy Right will increase the choice of food and increase pressure on the independent shops.
bulletFailure of shops will lose jobs, according to a survey just undertaken by CAASH (using the Lady Cranbrook formula) which identifies that at least 156 jobs would be at risk, not including the growers and suppliers of local produce.
bulletEmpty and boarded up shops.
